As a male who has limited kitchen (and life) skills, I thought making my own Halloumi/Mozzarella was out of the question. But I took on the task of making cheese for the first time using our kits and it was a total success. Give me some milk I can now whip up some of our cheeses in about 40 minutes.
As long as you follow these simple Tips – your cheese making will be spot on.
– READ THE INSTRUCTIONS – no way around it. Don’t skip and don’t speed read
– DO NOT STIR TOO HARD – I often stir things too hard, ignoring the part where it says ‘Don’t stir too hard’ . If you do this in Cheese making it means it might not set properly and you will end up with something that is so far from cheese you won’t understand how it came to be. So, follow my advice and Don’t stir too hard.
-BE PATIENT – if the time is up, you’ve heated the milk but it still hasn’t turned into a kind of solid in the pan – wait a bit longer and don’t panic. It will work out.
– Finally be confident in your cheese making abilities and don’t burn yourself. Do this and you’ll be sorted.
